Fibonacci Betting System

The use of Math and numbers is very much part of our daily activities, not just in architecture, art and finance but in casino games as well. In fact, it is common knowledge that people with superior Math skills could become experts in gambling if they use such skills. The application of Math in casino games is now popular, thanks to a world famous mathematician named Leonardo Pisano Bigollo, also called Leonardo of Pisa or Fibonacci.

Fibonacci modernized a sequence of numbers and correlated it with several aspects of life. In gambling this has been widely used as the Fibonacci betting system. In this system, every new number is equal to the sum of the last two numbers. The number sequence is as follows: 1,1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 and so on.

Fibonacci betting system is now commonly used in games like Blackjack, Roulette and Craps. This is best used in games that pay 1-1 and has a 50% chance of winning. This system is used to determine the betting units where each unit is the amount that is wagered each hand. For example, if a player's usual bet is $5, this is considered as 1 unit. Three units would be $15 according to the example.

In this kind of system, the theory is that a lost bet will be recovered by using the same amount on the following wager. For instance, assuming that all units are $5 and that the bets are on even money. The starting bet is always 1 unit which is according to the first number of the Fibonacci betting system. Whenever a player wins a bet, he would always revert to a 1 unit bet the next time.

If a player loses a bet, he would still bet 1 unit next time since 1 unit is enough to recoup the loss on the wager. When a player loses again, the last two bets would be added according to the Fibonacci betting system. So if the first bet is 1 unit and the second is 1 unit, the next bet would be 2 units. If a player loses again after betting 2 units, he needs to again add the last two bets made, i.e. 1 unit and 2 units. Therefore, the next bet needs to be 3 units. As long as the player loses, the sequence will continue in this pattern. When he wins, the bet amount could go back to the beginning of the sequence which is 1 unit.

The idea of using this betting system is that it would allow the player to at least recover losses over time, or break even.
